1. Globalization, strategy and best practices in operations

Economic globalization is causing major changes in the international division of labor, in the geographical distribution of economic activity and in business strategies, and new "rules of the game" are emerging. In this first course, the current globalization process will be analyzed from the triple aspect: commercial, financial and productive, its short and medium-term effects, and the future challenges that arise. At the same time, the short and medium term scenarios that configure a dynamic map of new opportunities and international business areas will be drawn.

Professor: Flor Gastey, Co-Founder & Business Development Manager at Depique Marketplace.

Traditionally, the term Operations has been associated with short-term programs whose efforts are mainly aimed at reducing the company's costs and/or improving the quality of the products or services supplied. This module aims to break with this paradigm and reflect on the importance of designing, deploying and implementing a formalized strategy throughout the supply chain, aligned with the company's strategy, in order to guide the decisions that will lead the company to best meet the challenges of the global economy discussed in the first module, and to develop its sustainable competitive advantage based on Operations supported by its winning factors.

Professor: José Manuel Santamans, Business Development & Marketing Manager in INNdux.

This course presents the Supply Chain Management model understood as the design and interconnection of organizations, processes and systems throughout the supply chain, from suppliers, through manufacturing and internal logistics, to the global distribution of the product to the customer. This course offers a transversal vision of the entire supply chain where the mission of Operations Management will be: the design of a supply chain coherent with the company's strategy and in particular with the Operations strategy, as well as the leadership and alignment between the different actors that contribute to the success of the supply chain.

Professor: Ralph Michaud, Chief Executive Officer at Plus Vitae.

2. Innovation and new challenges in operations

This module presents in a direct and practical way the principals of innovation and the type of culture that makes its acquisition possible. Students will be introduced to the Design Thinking Methodology (which will be studied in greater depth in a subsequent bootcamp) and to some great Agile-related systems that will facilitate the implementation of an innovative culture. In this subject, students will also learn about the different aspects that must be considered to create something truly innovative; technolgy, usability, practicality...

Professor: Mario Sorribas Fierro, Consultant and trainer specialized in Design Thinking, Marketing and Communication and Business Storytelling.

The complex global environment in which businesses currently operate forces them to constantly address new challenges and requires them to undergo continuous adaptation, change and transformation. Therefore, companies must rethink their business model, the way companies interact with each other, how they relate to their employees and, of course, the style of management and culture that prevails in our organisations, in order to ensure sustainability.
Companies should also reflect on the fact that they are not just offering value to their customers, but reliable value, meaning value that involves committing to a certain level of service regardless of the circumstances, in order to build resilience.
Furthermore, it is important to consider that companies do not exist in isolation, they operate in a global environment in which one of the key factors for a positive approach is to respect it. The business model must be sustainable by satisfying the needs of current generations, without affecting the capacity of future generations, and in operational terms, ensuring economic and social progress while respecting the environment.

On this module we will address two challenges that Operations Departments must deal with: sustainability and resilience.
Supply chains are essential for the development of any company's economic activity, hence the importance of building resilient business models capable of being sustained and maintained over time.
Responsible supply chain management provides companies with numerous business opportunities, from greater efficiency in their processes to a better adaptation and preparation for any future crises that may arise, making them resilient.
Corporate values and commitment to sustainability need to be transferred to suppliers, especially as some of the greatest opportunities for environmental and social impact lie in the supply chain.

The new scenarios of the global economy presented in the first course come with new needs and challenges in international and last mile distribution. This has led many companies to decide to outsource parts of the company's logistics activity. In this module, students will learn about logistics outsourcing and more specifically the entry into the market of global logistics operators, which are changing the basis of international logistics as we know it.

Professor: Sergio Aparicio, Deputy Managing Director-Business Development & Strategy at TVS scs.

Students will work in groups and apply to a real case all the lessons learned throughout the program. The project could either be an innovative solution or improvement that provides clarification to contrasted problems, but always with a strategic and innovative approach.
